Your love story

Our love story is a long one as we have been together 12 years. We knew each other at secondary school but our eyes didn’t connect on a romantic level until May Bank Holiday 2010, age 18. We hit it off straight away and haven’t looked back. We have conquered many obstacles such as: university and long distance, moving into an apartment together, buying our first house and finally bringing our puppy (Cilla) home.

The proposal

Complete surprise. Mitch proposed in the mix of lockdown (August 2020) on a yacht in Lake Garda, Italy. It was pure perfection.

Choosing the wedding dress

Choosing the dress was difficult as what I thought I wanted, wasn’t what I went for in the end. My mum and aunty were with me and after trying on five different dresses, I was ready to give up but then a wonderful shop assistant in David’s Bridal (Birmingham) told me to sit tight as she had in mind a beautiful dress that was new and therefore not on the shop floor yet. Suffice to say, it was THE ONE.

What was your inspiration/theme for the big day?

Our inspiration was old romantic. With the date being close to Valentine’s day, we wanted a touch of burgundy, soft pinks and purples. We wanted a nice clean fresh feel but with a cosy, warm element.

Why did you choose Bredenbury Court Barns?

We chose Bredenbury Court Barns because as soon as we drove up to the venue, we fell in love. The Oak Barn had that feeling out being outdoors because of the windows and we loved the views. We’re big hikers so seeing the Cotswolds in the distance was amazing.

Tell us all the details!

Our day was the best day of our lives. The ceremony was full of laughter as well as tears. My sister read the poem ‘Ours’ by Jo Fisher during the ceremony which we felt summed up our relationship perfectly. Our guests looked incredible and we were so thankful to all of those who came to share our special day. Julie from Dress to Impress was magnificent from start to finish- nothing was too much trouble and the Oak Barn looked stunning. I received many compliments on my flowers which were designed by May Rose Floral Design- the pinks and purples were exactly what I had envisioned. I couldn’t bring myself to throw them into a crowd of eager women! The band brought the entertainment well and truly- our guests were loving the dancefloor. So much so, many heels were taken off.

First Dance Song?

Everywhere- Fleetwood Mac

Your favourite moment of the day?

There was no particular ‘favourite moment’ as the whole day was incredible but seeing each other in the Orangery was something we’ll never forget.

A word of advice for future couples?

Everything will come together perfectly on your special day- only you know what should have been.
