your civil ceremony

Please note that booking Bredenbury Court Barns does not necessarily ensure a registrar is available to lead the ceremony nor that the local vicar/church may be available for a marriage service! The law dictates that you must contact the registry office or church yourself and make the arrangements, including directly settling their booking fee.

For both civil ceremonies and church services we recommend a time to get married (and fit in all the fabulous elements of your wedding day) ranges between 1.30 pm and 3pm, ideally around 2 – 2.30pm.  However, should you wish and earlier or later service, everything is still perfectly doable – if you are travelling from a church wedding further afield, an earlier marriage ceremony is likely to apply.  Civil Ceremonies range in duration from 20 – 30 minutes, Church Weddings are nearer an 1hr – 1hr15 minutes.

For civil ceremonies further details of the Herefordshire Registration Service can be found by clicking here and/or emailing the Ceremony Co-ordinator at or telephoning 01432 383261.

Herefordshire Registration Services address is:

Herefordshire Register Office,

They can provisionally allocate you your date and time (out to two years), and then confirm with you at the 12 month point once you are able to give notice.

For church weddings contact your local church and vicar.  There are certain requirements to qualify for marriage in a [Cofe] church, please click here for more details. You can marry in a Church of England church if you can show that one of you:

  • has at any time lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months, or
  • was baptised (christened) in the parish concerned, or
  • is confirmed and your confirmation was entered in the register of confirmations for a church or chapel in the parish (this will usually be the case if you were prepared for confirmation in the parish), or
  • has at any time regularly gone to normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months

St Andrew’s Church, Bredenbury is the local Church (of England) to Bredenbury Court Barns, some 400m up the road on the A44.  Group transport is advised for this short journey…
