The Decision

Why We Chose Bredenbury

How We Found Bredenbury

Complete chance. A social media ad appeared after we'd been to a viewing elsewhere and we couldn't stop thinking about it. We booked a viewing that same weekend.

What Made It Different

Panoramic views through the glass windows. Everything on one level with no stairs. No weather contingency to worry about, no rooms to rearrange if it rained. And the warmth of the team from our very first contact.

The Moment We Knew

For Chris it was the Atrium, the stag features and the oak beams. For Elle it was the Orangery and the Oak Barn with views for miles.

Any Concerns Before Booking

Access time and the hour's drive. Both were resolved quickly. Access from 9am took away the preparation worry entirely, and the perfect venue mattered more to us than proximity.

Pricing & No Corkage

Transparent pricing from the outset made every decision easier. No corkage gave us genuine freedom in how we planned the drinks, and every guest noticed.

Advice To Future Couples

Listen to your gut. If you want it, book it. You can't get those views or that level of service anywhere else.

The Day

How The Day Unfolded

Moment 01

VIP Ready Suite

One of the highlights of our whole day. A calm, spacious base from 9am, room to settle our nerves, get ready properly and be ourselves before the celebrations began.

Moment 02

Ceremony

The Orangery, filled with natural light through the 1920s Crittal windows. Our 78 guests gathered for something that felt intimate despite the scale.

Moment 03

Drinks Reception

Hugo Spritz cocktails, a deliberate nod to our Italian engagement, alongside canapés. Guests started exploring the grounds and mixing freely.

Moment 04

Countryside Setting

Everyone commented on the views. The autumn foliage matched our colour scheme without any effort. Nothing felt crowded. The countryside became part of our styling.

Moment 05

The Oak Barn Reveal

Huge but cosy. Inviting and intimate with all 78 of our favourite people inside. Exactly what we'd hoped for.

The Menu

Feast & Fizz

Wedding Breakfast

Canapés to start: lobster mac and cheese, buttermilk chicken with sriracha mayo, and cauliflower curried naans. Arancini as a starter, a deliberate nod to our engagement in Rome, noticed and commented on by most of our guests. Sausage and mash for the main, a personal favourite and a Bonfire Night nod. Chocolate brownie and ice cream to finish.

No Corkage Experience

Every guest commented on the bar, the options, the pricing, the freedom. Hugo Spritz cocktails during the reception set the tone. The no corkage policy meant we could plan the drinks experience entirely around what we and our guests would love.

Evening Food

Pizza and wedges, went down a storm. A standout touch from the team: a box of pizza delivered to our room at the end of the night.

Evening Atmosphere

Fairy light canopy and candles, complementing Bredenbury's own lighting perfectly. Cosy as the light faded, then building into a full celebration as the evening deepened.

The Detail

Style & Personal Touches

Overall Atmosphere

Relaxed and informal, with space and warmth for the many guests meeting for the first time. After a stressful lead-up, everything came together exactly as we'd pictured it.

Seasonal Influence

Bonfire Night became a centrepiece. Sparklers at the end of the evening drew every single guest outside, far more than we'd expected. The autumn foliage and countryside colours aligned perfectly with our palette.

Personal Details

A postcard guestbook and a Lego model of the Trevi Fountain anchored our travel theme. A gold train, referencing our surname, moved from the entrance to sit beside the cake, with a train carriage serving as our card box. Hugo Spritz cocktails celebrated our engagement story.

Favourite Photo Locations

The grounds, the Manor House frontage, the Orangery and the Oak Barn. Standout images from all four.

The Unexpected

What Surprised Us Most

"We expected the views to be incredible. What surprised us most was how relaxed we actually felt. The team managed surprises we had planned for each other without either of us ever finding out, and they went out of their way to help Elle's brother, who has autism, visit and familiarise himself with the venue beforehand. That level of care wasn't something we expected. It made the whole experience feel genuinely personal."

The People

The Team

Planning Support

Always someone available, by email, phone or in person. Multiple pre-wedding visits, always accommodated. The team managed secret surprises the couple had planned for each other without either finding out.

A Personal Touch

Elle's brother Brad, who has autism, was walking her down the aisle. The team facilitated multiple visits so he could familiarise himself with the venue and surroundings in advance. This was noted as one of the most meaningful parts of the entire experience.

Named on the day

  • Lianna, credited by the couple as the reason they booked.
  • Ella, kept the day running flawlessly.
  • Sally from Jenkinsons, made the catering feel personal and effortless.

Favourite Moments

"Realising that all the pre-stress, hard work and planning had paid off. The team were always there, but never in the way."

Chris

"Seeing the vision in my head finally come to life. Better than I could have ever imagined."
