For most people, flowers are key to any wedding.  The good news is that there are options for all tastes and budgets.  Here are just some of the main options for wedding flowers in 2022.

Artificial flowers

Up until fairly recently, just suggesting artificial flowers for a wedding would probably have been enough to have made people cringe.  Now, however, artificial flowers are becoming an increasingly popular choice.  There are several reasons for this.

The quality of artificial flowers has improved substantially over recent years.  You can now buy artificial wedding flowers that are indistinguishable from real blooms.  Alternatively, you can go for a fantastical display that real flowers simply couldn’t match.

What’s more, artificial flowers are cost-effective and convenient.  You can keep them as souvenirs of your special day or pass them on to someone else.

Wildlife-friendly flowers

Many couples now opt for real flowers that work for the environment as well as for their wedding.  This generally means using flowers that are grown as locally as possible and in a wildlife-friendly manner.  Some couples look specifically for flowers that have additional environmental benefits such as encouraging butterflies and bees.

Couples getting married in winter don’t have to miss out.  Bouquets can be made out of foliage and twigs, plus winter-flowering plants, berries and decorations.  You may also be able to find out-of-season flowers that have been grown sustainably under glass.  Wildlife-friendly flowers are often suitable for pressing and drying if you want to keep them.

Traditional flowers

Another key trend is for couples to use more traditional versions of popular flowers.  This is particularly visible with roses.  Modern roses are often developed to have a huge visual impact but little to no scent.  Traditional roses, by contrast, may be less visually spectacular but are much more scented and much more attractive to wildlife.
